We've seen that other Ivies, including our esteemed neighbor in Philadelphia, are emulating Harvard's ambition to become (it already is) a basketball power.:

Clearly the Ivies have the academic reputation and now the need based aid to support many players.
Clearly also much thought was given to the value of superior athletics to universities in a league that cannot do the same in football. Or, can it? Penn-Notre Dame at Franklin Field circa the 1930s...
