With all the noise coming out of Houston and Memphis, and UConn giving up on life as it relates to athletics, I think our timeline for reaching elite status in the AAC (top 4 programs) needs to move up. The rubber is starting to hit to road and right now, Houston, Cincy, UCF and Memphis are the sexy AAC schools.
I know people have said the P5’s won’t be looking to expand anytime soon, but if they start sniffing around and the top teams get poached, TU doesn’t have enough star power to be part of that convo. Memphis AND Houston are currently showing that they can recruit with the big boys in BBall. This is the sport that is supposed to be our bread and butter. We need to do whatever it takes to get to that level.
Getting stuck with the ECU’s, Tulane’s and Tulsa’s of the world would be DEVASTATING.
