The former Owls OL/LB and longtime Berwick High coach died Friday after a battle with ALS. He was all-time winningest coach in Pennsylvania high school football history. I got to see Glen Mills and Strath Haven play up there. What a great atmosphere for high school football. Like "Friday Night Lights." Thousands of people in attendance. Got to see Ron Powlus his junior and senior years. They also had the Orlando brothers, Bo, who played at West Virginia, and Chris, who went to Pitt. Curry was legendary. Won 455 games at Berwick. He played at Temple from 1964-67, just when I started going to games at Temple Stadium. William Updegrove, the former Temple LB who got hurt and had to give up football last year, is a Berwick kid.
