Suggest googling "Across the SEC, football fans not opting to travel with their team" in the Gainesville Sun.

Would link but the newspaper limits "free reads" so best y'all look individually.

The story as stated is about the declining numbers of fans traveling to see their teams play in another venue. {But the attendance decline also is at home games.}

Reasons presented are travel and distance, comfort, bad seats for visitors, easy availability of away games on TV or smartphone.

I also suspect some fans are finding other things to do in their leisure time, in a way a cultural shift.

Anyway, this quote resonated as it pertains to the Temple Stadium:

"I think you’re going to see an adjustment around the country where stadiums are going to reduce capacity to make the seating better for their fans.” said UF AD Scott Stricklin.

Could be, then, a 35,000-40,000 seat stadium that is well appointed with seats and amenities is the prudently farsighted decision.
