After listening to Dave Patenaude’s interview and Jim Panagos’ interview, I’m starting to think Coach Collins did us a serious solid.
Patenaude said that it was Collins who wanted the coaches to continue to recruit for Temple, and by making them stay on staff, most of the kids would stay true to their commitments.
Patenaude also said that bowl practices are going great because basically all of the soon-to-be-ex coaches are seriously into coaching up the guys. He said bowl prep was outstanding.
So I give Collins crefit fot that. He wanted his one last act to be about coaching up the guys to get ready for Duke and not jerking Temple around so close to National Signing Day.
Just my opinion. I could be totally off base, and Collins could have been trying to poach every recruit, but it seems to me that Collins was a stand-up guy through all this.
At least I hope he was on the up-and-up. It would be pretty damn refreshing if he was.
