So W. Mich. is ranked 17, Navy is ranked 19. What are the chances that even with a Western Michigan win, we still get into the Cotton Bowl with a win over Navy? Western Michigan would beat an unranked Ohio that is 8-4 in the MAC. We would beat a #19 ranked Navy team that is 9-2 in the AAC (a much better conference top to bottom).
Also worth noting, when looking at TV ratings, yes W. Mich. would be undefeated 13-0 going into the Cotton Bowl, but they are (at best) the 3rd team in Michigan in terms of pecking order. We would be a big team from a much better conference than the MAC (Nobody cares about the MAC--there's a reason they're undefeated and yet only ranked #17), and coming from the 4th largest market in the US.
Hopefully, Ohio can pull off the upset and we can beat Navy, and it wouldn't matter. But I was wondering what you guys thought our chances of the Cotton Bowl would be even if we both win.
Go Owls!
Go Bobcats!
