Penn State defensive back Ayron Monroe has committed to Temple as a grad transfer. He'll have one year of eligibility left and will be immediately eligible.
Monroe originally committed to Penn State out of St. John's College High in Washington, DC in the Class of 2015 over offers from Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Boston College, Georgia Tech and more. While in high school, Monroe ran an official 4.45 40-yard dash at a Nike event.
At Penn State, Monroe recorded 40 tackles, 2.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks in 22 games as a rotational safety and cornerback. According to Pro Football Focus' snap counts, Monroe split his time fairly evenly between slot corner, free safety and outside linebacker during his time at Penn State.
Monroe will likely join a safety room at Temple that is looking to replace a 3-year starter in Delvon Randall. Senior Benny Walls started nine games at safety last year and returns, as does Keyvone Bruton who started two games as a redshirt-sophomore.
