In case anyone missed it from my previous posts, here's how things work for a potential tiebreaker for which team would host the American's conference championship game.

If the division champions have the same conference and overall records and did not play each other in the regular season, it drills down to the following:

If one team is ranked ahead of the other in the most recently available CFP ranking and that team wins in the final weekend of the regular season, then that team hosts the championship game. If the higher-ranked team loses its last regular-season game, then a composite of selected computer ratings following the final weekend of the regular season is used to determine the host team.

If neither team is ranked in the most recently available CFP rankings, the computer ratings will be used as well.

If that doesn’t break the tie, then record against common conference opponents is used. If that doesn't do it, it comes down to a coin flip.
