7 footer...

I just left mass at parish, Saint John the Baptist in Manayunk, young 7 footer and his mother attending mass together. I have never seen them before and could not catch up to them after mass. Not sure who he was,or if he was on a visit somewhere, any thoughts? Thanks as always! He was a sight to see...and what a wingspan..

NORTH BROAD STREET BULLIES (The Basketball Tournament)

Good afternoon,

My name is Sam and I am the "booster" for the Temple Alumni team for The Basketball Tournament. I previously posted on these boards as sforman17, but my account expired and I cannot renew right now, so I am borrowing my brother's just for this post. Anyway, the team needs YOUR HELP to get the team into the tournament so they can compete for the third straight year. This time the stakes are raised, as the prize is $2 million.

Last year's roster included Khalif Wyatt, Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, TJ DiLeo, Dalton Pepper, Ramone Moore, and Jake Godino. So far, RHJ, TJ, and Juan Fernandez have been officially listed on the roster.

Click here to become a fan. This year, there is a prize structure for fans of the winning team, based on your recruitment of other fans. Here it is:
  • 1ST PLACE: $20,000
  • 2ND-5TH: $10,000
  • 6TH-20TH: $4,000
  • 21ST-100TH: $1,000
Please take the time to become a fan and spread the word! Go Owls!

Ken Kaiser

He is the CFO of the university. Wouldn't he have to be replaced too?

At the end of the day this could turn into a major clean sweep.

I'm just wondering what's truly at work here.

Also, if the provost has to be confirmed by the board, doesn't the president have to consult with them on removal?

Harrison Hand

2017 Cherry Hill (NJ) High School West cornerback Harrison Hand told Brian Dohn of Scout.com that he'll take official visits to Temple, Virginia Tech and Rutgers.

Hand, who's fresh off an appearance (and 7-on-7 championship) at Nike's The Opening in Oregon, has been one of Temple's top priorities in the class of 2017 since they were the first school to offer in June 2015. He was on campus as recently as last month for one of Matt Rhule's camps, along with 2017 4-star safety Markquese Bell of Bridgeton (NJ) High, and he told me then that he was planning on potentially making a late summer decision.

Fran Brown has been the lead recruiter on Hand and the two talk on a daily basis.

Dwayne Killings

Per a source close to the Connecticut basketball program, OwlScoop.com has learned that Dwayne Killings is set to resign from Fran Dunphy's program in order to join Kevin Ollie's staff.

Killings was Temple's Director of Basketball Operations from 2006-09 before leaving to spend a year with the NBA D-League and a year with Boston University. Killings returned to Temple in June 2011 and has spent the last five seasons establishing himself as Temple's best recruiter.

This is obviously a pretty big loss for Temple's program. We'll have more as this develops, including potential replacements for Killings' spot on the bench.

Brad Hawkins

Michigan signee and Camden (NJ) High graduate Brad Hawkins will attend prep school, as he announced on Twitter earlier this afternoon.

Hawkins didn't qualify, which means that he'll have to sign again as a member of the class of 2017 (similar to Greg Webb).

Temple recruited Hawkins extremely hard during the first time around and I would expect them to do the same this time. Defensive backs coach Francis Brown is a fellow Camden High graduate and has a strong relationship with Hawkins.

Massachusetts contingent hosted on Tuesday

A carload of recruits from Massachusetts made their way down to Philadelphia for an unofficial visit to Temple on Tuesday, according to a source. The two most notable recruits that made it to campus were 2018 four-star shooting guard A.J. Reeves of Brimmer and May School (holds offers from Boston College, UConn, Louisville, Providence, Temple, and others), along with 2017 three-star point guard Wabissa Bede of Cushing Academy (holds offers from Butler, DePaul, VCU, Providence, and others).
