5 KEYS TO BEATING UCONN TOMORROW

1. MAKE THEM PLAY OFFENSE IN THE HALFCOURT . DO NOT LET THEM GET OUT ON THE BREAK

2. MAKE THEM SHOOT TOUGH THREE POINTERS . NOT A GREAT THREE POINT SHOOTING TEAM

2. DRIVE AND KICK TO ESTABLISH QUALITY THREE POINT SHOOTING ON OFFENSE

3. DRIVE INTO THE SHOT BLOCKERS GRILL AND GET HIM IN FOUL TROUBLE . DO NOT FINESSE GOING TO THE HOLE OR UCON WILL BLOCK THE SHOT AND BE GOING QUICKLY THE OPPOSITE WAY

4. CUMMINGS NEEDS TO OUT PLAY BOATWRIGHT PLAIN AND SIMPLE

5. WE NEED TO WIN THE 50/50 BALLS ON BOTH REBOUNDING AND LOOSE BALLS .

BIG GAME PREDICTION : MORGAN , OBI AND CUMMINGS WITH BIG GAMES .

PREDICTION : TEMPLE 62 - UCONN 56

Open practice: POV

Thought I would pass the time worrying about the ECU game tomorrow by setting forth my thoughts regarding Saturday's open practice at the LC which I attended with about 100 others.
Jaylen Bond is a Leader. FD had losing teams from some of the sessions run laps. Jaylen gave everything he had and won every race. And those races included guards who you would think would be faster because they are carrying less weight.
Will had his ring and pinky fingers taped together on his shooting hand which made me nervous. However, he participated in every session and didn't seem to favor that hand at all. WC is a character guy.
Quenton was really working hard. No let up except maybe when he had to run laps. Quenton - and all the guys for that matter - are very competitive and you could see they wanted to win every session where scoring was being kept.
Jesse and Mark were knocking down Js consistently. MW took numerous treys in the game- like sessions and I don't think he missed but 1 or 2. On the other hand, Daniel could make no Js but did attack the goal and finish.
Devontae is still a project far from the Sergio level at the same stage in his career...disappointing.
FD is extremely organized. The 1 and 1/2 hour practice was broken down in 8 minute increments. The guys were working, but enjoying it ( mostly) at the same time. FD is intense, but criticisms were constructive and primarily of the " you have to do better than that " variety with specifics as to what was not done well enough.
Most of the guys stayed around after practice for extra shooting time - another good sign IMO.
The guys all seem to like each other which is another good thing IMO.
Afterwards, all the guys walked into the stands and shook hands with us visitors. You would be very proud of how nice our guys are when you meet them.
A great event that I encourage all season tix holders attend when this is done again.

Go Owls !

Who do we root for?

3 games that i found interesting

SMU Uconn- although Uconn is probably out for an at large you don't want to give them momentum and this puts Tulsa in first place which will help them on the bubble

Oregon Standford- 2 bubble teams Orgeon just above us in last 4 byes and Stanford as first 4 out

Tulsa- Cincinnati- 2 bubble teams in our conference

I am going to root for Uconn, Tulsa, and I don't care who wins the other game.

Traci & Malik/Derrick & Howie

Traci Carter and Malik Ellison were at the game game last night. They were sitting in Sec105 with two lovely ladies. I suspect that the tix were complimentary since Sec 105 is where staff sits TUBB guests ( ie, behind our bench ). This is some evidence that Owls are still recruiting both guys. I spoke briefly with Traci. He is a very nice young man. I am, therefore, officially joining the TC fan club and hoping he comes to Temple.

On another note, Derrick Battie, was at the game. He looks like he could step on the court and aquit himself well today. Howie Evans, who has put on a few pounds, was there too. Very nice to see these alumni Owls.
