Thanks Kyle

It was a surreal scene at the recruiting event last night. As Matt was on stage, dozens of people were watching Kyle's Periscope feed. When he picked the Temple hat, you could hear a bunch of celebratory cheers spread throughout the room.

The best was watching Matt check his phone every time they cut to another recruit's highlight video to see if he received any contact from Karamo. By far the coolest thing was when Karamo called Matt to tell him, Matt held the phone up and everyone in attendance roared for Karamo to hear. One of the truly cool, unique, and hopefully defining moments I've experienced as a fan of Temple. Thanks Kyle for going above and beyond last night to make it all happen.

Ranking and clarification

With Mr. Webb in the fold, Rivals has us at #59 in the rankings- kudos to the staff

It also looks like we have 26 commitments, do any count against last year or will one or two of these end up enrolling in January. I thought irrespective of the year a recruit goes against, a program can't have more than 25 new additions in any one year. Could someone with more knowledge of the rules than I clarify. Thanks

STEVE PETRICK

Posted it months ago and I'll post it again: I really like this kid. Great size, runs good patterns, can catch the ball, is a tough, hard-nosed western PA kid. Will get much bigger. Ed Foley compared him to Steve Maneri. Kid looks like a badass in his headshot photo. Has gigantic tattoos on his biceps. Looks like a warrior.

Today's coverage

As you've seen already, we've posted several exclusive interviews with assistant coaches as we get them and put them on the front page. We're also adding links to those interviews in Kyle's main story and continually updating it.

Things are slowing down a bit now, but we'll have more after Matt Rhule's 3 p.m. press conference.

Also, Freddie Johnson's LOI just came in.

Chris Tucker

For those of you wondering who is going to replace D'Andre Dill in this year's recruiting class, here's the answer.

Per Matt Vender of Owls247, Trinity Christian Academy (TN) defensive lineman has committed to Temple. We've been able to confirm this. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Tucker had 79 tackles, 16 TFL and 9 sacks as a senior for Trinity Christian and garnered offers from Temple and UMass after his senior season. Tucker took a midweek official visit to Temple last week.

Montel Aaron

Per his Twitter, Montel Aaron has decommitted from Temple.

It'll be interesting to see where Aaron ends up. He referenced other official visits but he's done a good job of keeping those quiet.

I think Aaron had the potential to be a very good player at the AAC level. That being said, I don't think the plan going into the season was ever to bring in two QBs in this class. Temple adjusted after Russo's commitment and was willing to bring both QBs because of the level of talent. Without Aaron in the fold, I'd expect Temple to use his scholarship on another position.

FRISMAN JACKSON

In a Centre Daily Times article about PSU recruiting, it was stated that the Temple WRs coach ripped Douchebag Franklin over negative recruiting involving Darien.

This was Jackson's tweet, which has since been deleted:

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette posted a screen shot of a tweet that appeared to be sent by Temple receivers coach Fris Jackson at 8:24 a.m. that called Penn State out for “negative recruiting” just a few weeks after Franklin adamantly stated he and his staff don’t partake in such tactics.

“You’re suppose (sic) to be ‘Power 5’ but you have to negative recruit us to get a recruit, what a joke!!’” The tweet read. It has since been deleted.

Good for Jackson. I personally love it. I can't stand Franklin.

Florida Games USF UCF

Anyone venturing to the two Temple basketball games this weekend
and next? South Florida Sunday 2 PM 1/31....Central Florida Saturday
12 noon 2/6. Usually never a problem with tickets as both programs
typically do not draw a large crowd at home.

I'm anxious to see the UCF centers, one at 7ft 6in and the other at 325 lbs.
It's a good day trip for Temple Owls in Florida on both occasions.

Gotta get the team back on track

GO OWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat USF and UCF
