Thank You

JDC and all the Owl Scoop contributors - just want to say thank you for the podcasts and flow of information during these crazy times. A lot of people are out of work, worried about losing their jobs, or simply dealing with the effects of being isolated, fear of being infected with the virus, or know people that are infected.

It is refreshing to listen to the podcasts to sort of get away from reality a bit and enjoy hearing about Temple sports. All the updates have been fantastic as well and another reason why we are subscribers. Thanks for keeping up with everything despite when all seems to be in a standstill. You may or may not realize it - but your efforts do provide a sense of normalcy and enjoyment that is much needed right now.

Thank you

The Scoop with P.J. Walker

I'm excited to let you all know that P.J. Walker will be our guest on The Scoop tomorrow to talk about getting back into the NFL and signing with the Carolina Panthers and reuniting with Matt Rhule, Robby Anderson, Keith Kirkwood and some other former Owls and coaches.

Colin Thompson will be on with us again, and we'll have the usual crew of Sam Cohn, Sam Neumann and Graham Foley.

If you have a mailbag question for P.J., send it here and we'll get in as many as we can on the podcast. In addition to talking about the NFL, I'm sure he'll be sharing some great Temple stories and anecdotes as well.

And if you have any team-specific questions for us apart from what we discuss with P.J., that's great, too. The more the merrier.

We'll start recording tomorrow around 2 p.m.

I hope you're all safe, happy and healthy out there!

With Aaron McKie ...

being Temple's Eddie Jordan, my purposeful checkout on the season after the Missouri loss (then only seeing that underwhelming 14-17 record about two weeks ago) and now watching a kid they recruit hard shun the program and go back to his Ivy League school, I think it's time for me to wrap up this exercise for awhile. I'm obviously not clairvoyant, but the feeling I get about the McKie stewardship thus far combined with his super staff of car salesmen and do nothings doesn't purport to be a successful venture. I applaud all those that continue to be optimistic.

GOTU.

Brendan Barry Recruiting Info

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on the message board. You may recognize my voice from appearances on "The Scoop" or articles that I've written, such as the latest Brendan Barry recruiting update.

I spoke to Brendan after he made his decision today. He would've been a great fit at Temple, but he truly likes being at Dartmouth and you have to commend the kid for his loyalty. That said, the notion that Temple "swung and missed" on Barry is false. They recruited him very hard and his decision came down to returning to Dartmouth or transferring to Temple.

Here's a statement he left me with:

"To be 100% honest with you I had it down to Temple and Dartmouth. I spent the last week contemplating the decision and was really torn over it. I know that I could’ve helped out Temple in a lot of areas, and I have a ton of respect for the coaching staff and the culture that they have built. Also playing in that conference would’ve been a great challenge and a ton of fun. But at the end of the day, I fully believe that we have a really good chance to compete for an Ivy League title at Dartmouth next year, which has not been done since 1959. Additionally, I see myself as a loyal person and felt a sense of duty to my teammates to come back and give it our best shot. I know it is not the most popular or trendy choice with all of the grad transfers entering the portal and not many people in my position would make the same decision, but I truly believe that it is the right choice."

Brendan Barry, other recruiting info

Just in case you missed it out on the front page, Sam Neumann caught up with Dartmouth transfer Brendan Barry for a story.

Also, in case we haven't mentioned it previously, we can confirm that Temple is also involved in recruiting Butler transfer Khalif Battle. He's the younger brother of former Syracuse star Ty Battle and was a highly-touted recruit coming out of Trenton Catholic.

The Scoop - mailbag questions

Hello, everyone!

We're recording The Scoop tomorrow afternoon/early evening. If you have football-related mailbag questions for us, please send them here or chime in on Twitter if you want. We can continue to look at position battles and talk about recruiting, too. Sam Neumann and Adam Crognale have contributed three recruiting stories this week as Temple continues to extend more offers to the 2021 class. And if we have Colin Thompson on with us again, we'll talk about P.J. Walker, Robby Anderson, Tahir Whitehead and Keith Kirkwood heading to Carolina with Matt Rhule, along with any questions you'd want to throw Colin's way.

Stay safe, stay healthy and thank you all for your continued support of the site and our podcast. We appreciate it!

The Scoop - mailbag questions

We'll be recording this week's episode of The Scoop at some point tomorrow afternoon or early evening. We talked to Aaron McKie and Quinton Rose today, and we'll have more recruiting updates as well as the transfer portal continues to include more names.

If you have mailbag questions for us, please feel free to send them here.

I hope you're all having a healthy, happy and safe week wherever you are.

Visits and such

Temple was in to see 2018 G Trey Wertz. They seem to be setting up shop in North Carolina, especially with Team Loaded and Providence Day. He received an offer from Temple last month. Has offers from a bunch of quality schools. Looks to be about 6'5" and can play some point and can shoot from range.
